Coeliac Disease Update: An Overview of Management

The course is aimed at dietitians who would like to develop their knowledge and skill base in coeliac disease management in children and adult patients. It will give a general overview of the disease, including symptoms, diagnosis and associated conditions and health complications. Detailed information and practical advice will be given on the gluten-free diet, and the types of resources and tools available for both patients and health professionals will be highlighted. National management guidelines and international standards will also be discussed.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course delegates will be able to:
- inform regarding the diagnosis – the symptoms, the process and the issues;
- provide guidance on the management of coeliac disease and associated disorders;
- understand and refer to current management guidelines;
- give practical information on gluten-free living and education resources;
- provide an insight into the role of the dietitian in coeliac disease management and extended role in providing dietetic-led coeliac clinics.
