Many dietetic services are receiving more referrals for women with PCOS as awareness and understanding of the condition increases.  There are many public sources of information and women accessing services will be well informed, and will expect well informed and skilled practitioners to help them achieve the best outcomes for them. 

This workshop is aimed at dietitians who would like to gain an understanding of PCOS and how dietetics can play a central role in it’s management.

Aim

To equip participants with a good understanding of PCOS, it’s diagnosis, symptoms and management with focus on the role of the dietitian.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, delegates will:

  • Be able to explain the links between PCOS, obesity, diet, lifestyle and long-term health concerns.
  • Be aware of the treatment options for each of the symptoms of PCOS.
  • Have more insight of the issues faced by women with PCOS and how these may affect lifestyle change.
  • Be more confident in negotiating diet and lifestyle changes to women with PCOS.
  • Understand the benefits of a multi-disciplinary approach to the condition.
  • Be aware of sources of further information for patients and health professionals.
