Office 2007 files
The BDA office is equipped with Microsoft Vista machines using Office 2007 versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
The newer version files often have an extra "x" at the end:
for example, "summary.docx" rather than the earlier "summary.doc".
Users of older versions may have difficulty reading BDA files until they upgrade their own versions of Microsoft Office.
However, Microsoft have published a utility that provides a fix, enabling older versions to convert the new version into an editable format. This utility only needs installing once, then older Office software can read the new format thereafter.
