Nutrition Qualifications and Career Paths

The British Dietetic Association's (BDA) members already have a public licence to practise sanctioned by the state (the Health Professions Council). Bona fide Human Nutritionists do not. Our sister organisation, the Nutrition Society is taking active steps to develop appropriate regulatory and continuing professional development (CPD) arrangements for its members. As it is in the national interest to be able to distinguish between properly qualified nutritionists and others, a paper was presented to a recent meeting of the Food Standards Agency/Department of Health and the Nutrition Forum, drafted jointly by Luci Daniels (BDA) and Dr. Judy Buttriss (Nutrition Society).
