Karen Robinson - Deputy Northern Ireland Constituency Council Member
Since first graduating from the University of Ulster in 2002, I have been an active member of the BDA. Throughout my career, I have engaged with various BDA activities such as the BDA renal course, the PENG course and the Diploma in Advanced Dietetic Practice. In 2003 I was awarded the Rose Simmonds Memorial Fund that facilitated my attendance to the International Congress of Dietetics in Chicago. To date I have also held a variety of BDA posts. I was Deputy NI Constituency Council Member / Vice-chair NI Board 2006-2008, Acting Chair NI Branch 2007 & NI Constituency Council Member / Chair NI Board 2008 -2010 & was awarded the BDA Roll of Honour in 2010 for my contribution to the re-structuring of NI Board at that time. In 2010, I stood down from my BDA Council role in order to start my family. 8 years later, I am now very happily Mum to two lively and energetic little boys who together successfully manage to take care of any “spare” time that I happen to have! I have gained experience in a wide range of clinical areas. My current post is at the Mater Hospital, Belfast HSC Trust, where I am the Clinical Lead Specialist Dietitian and work within the clinical specialities of both hepato-biliary and critical care.
