GET Trust Fund Grants

Process

Completed applications need to be submitted at least 6 weeks before the Trustees meet. The Trustees currently meet four times a year to consider grant applications. This means that Trustees will hold their 2017 meetings on 27th February, 15th May, 18th September and 13th November. If you intend to apply, please check with the BDA office for upcoming deadline dates.

All applications must be on the standard form, although supporting documentation is welcomed. The Trustees will seek the views of two professional reviewers on each grant application, to get a view from experts about the suitability and relevance of the proposal. The reviewers views are confidential, as is the whole process. The decision on whether to support an application will be a decision for the Trustees alone.

You will be notified of the outcome of your application as soon as possible following the Trustees meeting.  The Trustees’ discussions concerning applications are confidential.  However, the Trustees will try to provide written reasons for their decisions wherever possible.

If you require any advice or guidance on the process please contact the Secretary to the Trustees who will be able to help you.

The forms

The Trustees have prepared comprehensive guidance for the completion of applications which you are encouraged to read before you start.

Every 6 months the Trustees require updates from every grant holder on the update form (Word file).

An example of a typical 6 month reporting form can be found here.

At the end of every grant, a comprehensive final report form (Word file) must be completed.

Attending overseas conferences and events

The Trustees have established funding to support BDA members attending overseas conferences and eevnts, such as the International Congress of Dietetics. The relevant application form can be found here. Please submit your form and and abstract at least three weeks before the relevant Trustees meeting, to allow it to be assessed and reviewed.

BDA GET and Anaphylaxis Campaign

In a new initiative between the trustees of the General and Education Trust Fund and Anaphylaxis Campaign, a research fund has been jointly made available to advance the science and practice of dietetics in relation to allergic conditions. The grant programme is open to researchers with innovative ideas for new research in this field, which can be completed within 18 months of the grant award.  The fund has £5,000 to be awarded to a successful applicant or applicants. We look forward to receiving applications by 26th of August, for approval in September 2016. To download the grant application form, click here. Completed applications should be sent to Anaphylaxis Campaign at the address on the form. The approval of grants will be made jointly by trustees of both organisations. Terms and conditions from the GET Trust Fund will apply.
