This course is a broad introduction to dietetics in mental health, learning disabilities and eating disorders. It is appropriate for Dietitians who see these service users in their practice, regardless of the setting in which you work.
The course helps participants to gain practical skills and knowledge which will increase confidence and decision making in these clinical areas. It enables participants to make informed decisions about multi-disciplinary team (MDT) involvement, risk, communication, treatment and safe, effective working with these service users.
Each topic is discussed through the use of small group work and case studies to focus on key nutritional, medical, social and psychological approaches used within these specific client groups. Issues around clinical supervision, continuing professional development and peer support/networking will also be discussed.
