Nadeen led on the development of the first dietetics programme for homeless young people in the UK and was nominated and shortlisted for CN's Community Nutrition Professional of the year in 2017 for her work at Centrepoint. She started her career with International Medical Corps in Lebanon where her work was focused on the nutritional vulnerabilities of Syrian refugee mothers and children. Before moving to the UK in 2016, she cofounded Heathy Happy Us, one of the leading evidence based nutrition and fitness service providers in the Middle East.

Nadeen will present a case study on Exploring the Role of the First Dietitian to be Employed by a Homelessness Charity

Summary - Food poverty is on the rise in the UK and the homeless youth are among the most vulnerable to food insecurity and nutritional deficiencies. The health team at Centrepoint has recently launched a dietetics programme to respond to the needs of this hard to reach population. This presentation will share their journey, including challenges faced and lessons learnt as well as insights into the unique presentations of this client group and the day-to-day role of a dietitian in this setting.

About Nadeen - Qualified in the Middle East and registered in the UK, Nadeen always had an interest in public health and community nutrition. She started her career with International Medical Corps in Lebanon where her work was focused on the nutritional vulnerabilities of Syrian refugee mothers and children. She then co-founded, Healthy Happy Us, one of the leading evidence based nutrition and fitness service providers in the Middle East, before moving the London in 2016. She started her career in London as Healthy Living Advisor at Centrepoint, a homelessness charity and was instrumental in establishing the first dietetics programme for homeless young people in the UK. Nadeen was nominated and shortlisted for CN's Community Nutrition Professional of the year in 2017 for her work at Centrepoint. Her favourite part of her job is sharing her passion for fighting health inequalities with students as a public health placement supervisor.
