Nick Trott MSc

Gastroenterology Dietitian, Department of Gastroenterology Royal Hallamshire Hospital

Nick is presenting on Application of the Gluten Free Diet beyond Coeliac Disease in the Gluten & Wheat Free Update breakout session hosted by BDA Gastroenterology Specialist Group.

Over the last decade there has been a rapid growth in the public popularity of gluten free diets, often in individuals without a diagnosis of coeliac disease and this may have potential negative nutritional consequences. However, there is now emergent research that a gluten free diet maybe of benefit in conditions beyond coeliac disease. This talk will review the evidence for gluten free diets with specific reference to gluten ataxia, non-coeliac wheat sensitivity and irritable bowel syndrome.

About Nick - Nick obtained a honours degree in nutrition and dietetics from Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2000. Post graduate training, Nick has worked in a variety of clinical areas within the NHS including critical care, oncology and haematology.
