Mrs Julija Igosina
Hi! My name is Julia. Thank you for looking at my profile.
After observing a few family members come to term with cardiac disease and subsequent complications, and the onset of diabetes, I became fascinated by how their dietary requirements were required to adapt to their newly diagnosed disorders. Some of the dietary initiatives were more successful than others. As I found myself delving deeper into specific nutrients and their components, I became more intrigued by the clinical dimension of nutritional intake, especially during recovery from disease.
During my spare time, I took the initiative to research the cause and effect of the other facets of nutrition, especially the disruptions of body functions by food allergens, whereby I took a special interest in Coeliac disease and lactose intolerance. These areas of interest were brought to life during my recent training at the professional kitchen in the company I work for as a finance manager, where I assisted the head chef in modifying recipes to accommodate guests with specific dietary requirements.
Following the completion of the internship I was flattered to be offered a full-time role at the inventive kitchen, which I courteously declined in order to follow the more fulfilling pursuit of working towards becoming a qualified dietitian. To assist me in achieving the necessary qualifications, I undertook the immensely instructive Certificate of Higher Education in Life Sciences for Subjects Allied to Medicine.
In my spare time I volunteered at the charity called Food Chain, hosting HIV patients’ educational events. I also volunteered at several British Dietetic Association (BDA) events and enjoyed talking and sharing my knowledge with members of the public. I am a member of the BDA , and spend hours reading articles about nutrition; studying different diets and comparing them from nutritional value and applicability standpoints.
