BDA member wins a national Nursery World award28 September 2016
The British Dietetic Association wishes to offer congratulations to valued BDA member, Gillian Farren, who was awarded ‘Trainer of the Year’ at the national Nursery World awards on Saturday 24 September.
Gillian is currently working within the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) as a senior public health dietitian for early years, and as part of this, facilitates training programmes to support parents and children to eat healthier.
Through her role as a trainer, Gillian Farren has acted as a strong advocate for children’s health in Leicester, and has developed a large proportion of the supporting resources for the Leicester Eat Better Start Better programme.
In the programme’s first year, a total of 62 early years practitioners and almost 300 families had direct input from the programme, with positive feedback.
In response to the award, Gillian said: “Even being shortlisted for these awards was a real honour, so I’m absolutely thrilled to have won. Above all, I’m so pleased that the hard work that we are doing with parents and children to encourage healthy lifestyles is being recognised.”
