The BDA’s Dietitians Week 2016 wins Best Social Media Campaign award

On Thursday November 17, the British Dietetic Association was presented as the winners of the Best Social Media Campaign at the Association Awards for the campaign Dietitians Week 2016 which took place from June 6 to June 10.

The British Dietetic Association (BDA), founded in 1936, is the professional association and trade union for dietitians in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It is the nation’s largest organisation of food and nutrition professionals with over 8,500 members.

Dietitians Week is an awareness raising campaign that aims to promote the great work that dietitians do, this year focusing on the theme of workplace health, which costs UK employers up to £23 billion per year. The Week was supported by the BDA Work Ready programme.

The Association Awards is facilitated by The Association of Association Executives, and the awards ceremony took place in Wembley as part of the Associations UK Congress, running from 17-18 November.

Chief Executive of the BDA, Andy Burman, said: “There were some brilliant examples of social media campaigns shortlisted for this prestigious award and it was great to see the BDA recognised for Dietitians Week 2016.

“Thank you to all BDA staff and members involved in the event and everyone that participated in the social media campaign.”

BDA staff were also well represented through talks and presentations at the Associations UK Congress. Andy Burman, CEO, spoke on sponsorship; Camilla Durrant, Head of Member Services at the BDA, delivered a talk on CRM initiatives to drive member engagement; and Laura King, BDA Membership Officer, spoke about specialist interest groups and volunteer communities. Daniella Wood, Communications Officer, also delivered a round table session on the success story of Dietitians Week.
