BDA and BAPEN commit to closer joint working

BAPEN logoThe British Dietetic Association (BDA) and British Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (BAPEN) are pleased to announce the signing of a formal Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisations, which strengthens the already positive working relationship between the two bodies.

The BDA Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Group (PENG) are already a Core Group within the BAPEN structure, but the BDA and BAPEN Executives were keen to spread collaboration beyond this group. The new MoU commits the two organisations to work together to raise awareness of the work of BAPEN with the BDA, and to drive greater participation from dietitians in the work of BAPEN. It also sets out how the two bodies will collaborate on issues relating to malnutrition and good nutritional care.

Kate Hall, PENG Chair and Communications Officer on BAPEN Council said; “This is another positive step in the longstanding relationship between our two organisations. BAPEN has been around for 25 years and is a fantastic example of collaboration between dietitians, doctors, nurses, patients and pharmacists. I’m looking forward to seeing even more dietitians becoming involved in its work.”

Dr Simon Gabe, President of BAPEN said; "It is a pleasure to formalise the strength of the relationship between BAPEN and the BDA with this Memorandum of Understanding between our two organisations. PENG is a Core member of BAPEN and a specialist group within the BDA and this will continue. Over the years, BAPEN and the BDA have been working with common agendas to tackle issues related to malnutrition.  I can see that our two organisations will now be even more closely aligned and look forward to this working relationship."
