Nutrition and Hydration Week13 March 2014
This year, the BDA is proudly supporting Nutrition and Hydration Week (week commencing Monday 17 March 2014).
Nutrition and Hydration Week is a collaboration between the Hospital Caterers Association, National Association of Care Catering and Patient Safety First.
The campaign week reinforces and focusses energy, activity and engagement on nutrition and hydration as an important part of patient safety improvement.
During Nutrition and Hydration Week, individuals and organisations are being asked to pledge their support to raising awareness of the importance of nutrition and hydration as an essential element of care.
In addition, on Wednesday 19th March, people are being encouraged to join in the ‘World Tea Party’ as a way to show your support of Nutrition and Hydration Week.
Siân O’Shea, Honorary Chairman of the BDA said:
“Good tasting and nutritious food and fluid intake must, at all times, be an absolute priority for all patients. It should never underestimate the impact this has on patient treatment, well-being and improvement. Indeed, food and nutrition can be just as important as medication for some and patients should look forward to meal times.
“The awareness that Nutrition and Hydration Week brings is absolutely critical to keep this issue high up on the health agenda. The British Dietetic Association is proud to have supported Nutrition and Hydration Week 2014.”
