Home Countries

Some research opportunities differ across the home countries. For more information, please see below.

England

Clinical research is a fast-growing career pathway for healthcare professionals, and is supported by government funding. The training undertaken leads to qualifications such as Masters in Research degrees and PhDs. The research projects done as part of your training will also help your patients and those across the country every day by improving the care delivered.

For more information, visit the NHS Health Careers website and the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Trainees Coordinating Centre website.

Northern Ireland

Clinical research in Northern Ireland is supported by the Clinical Research Support Centre (CRSC) which provides advice, support and training to clinical researchers in Northern Ireland.

The Northern Ireland Clinical Research Network aims to promote research within Northern Ireland.

Scotland

The Scottish government funds a range of research programmes. Details of these programmes and publications can be found here.

Wales

The Health and Care Research Wales provides an infrastructure to support and increase capacity in research and development.
