The Hospital Food Root and Branch Review was launched last month, with Prue Leith as the celebrity sponsor of the review and past Hospital Caterers Association chair, Phil Shelley, named as the Chairman of the Review Panel.
The BDA has offered our support to the review panel and we were pleased to be at the table for the first meeting of the panel on 13th September. We will be represented at these meetings by Chief Executive Andy Burman, Public Affairs Officer Tom Embury and two experienced catering dietitians from the Food Services Specialist Group; Lauren Bowen and Maxine Cartz.
Dietitians are very well placed to give an impartial view on all aspects of hospital food and the well-being of patients, staff and visitors. We understand the issues that make catering in a hospital setting so challenging and complex.
Therefore we believe that this is an excellent opportunity for us to share our views to the senior politicians and the public at large.
We want your input so that the four BDA spokespeople can properly represent the BDA and our members’ views. All feedback is welcome. Examples of good and bad practice. Challenges and solutions.
