HeartUnions week this year takes place from 8 to 14 February 2021. A week of activity throughout England and Wales that highlights the good work that unions do every day to offer everyone a voice at work. Heart Unions is our chance to tell the story about why unions are vital for everyone at work, and encourage people who aren't yet in a union to join. Every year it's a chance for reps and activists to publicise what they've been doing and make the case for union membership.
2020 and COVID-19
2020 was a tough year for all and for those working in the health sector in particular. The BDA Trade Union knows how hard our members worked to alleviate the strains put on the NHS by COVID-19. We know this because we were in dialogue with our members and heard first hand how things were unfolding in the wards, medical centres, and communities in which our members operate.
Throughout the pandemic in addition to COVID-19 specific duties BDA members carried out their invaluable dietetic work. Throughout BDA Trade Union Representatives and the BDA TU as a whole have been lobbying for improved access to PPE, looking after member welfare, and working towards the best possible working environment for those in dietetics and the NHS as a whole.
We know that every worker needs a union and every workplace needs a rep. If you want to improve your workplace for the better then becoming a BDA Trade Union Representative is a great way to do so.
