Heart Unions Week 8th to 14th February 2017
The TUC Heartunions 2017 week is a campaign which running from Wednesday 8th February 2017 to Tuesday 14th February 2017.
The TUC and its affiliated trade unions will run a special week of action throughout England and Wales. The campaign will showcase the amazing work unions do, and tell the stories of ordinary members and representatives.
We want BDA members to get involved, tell positive union stories to the wider public, and recruit new members to the union movement.
The TUC has produced a briefing document Heartunions week of action.

The Big Workplace Meeting
On Thursday 9 February 2017 at 12:30pm there will be the Big Workplace Meeting (virtual event).
We’d love you to join Frances O’Grady and her special guest for “The Big Workplace Meeting” on Thursday 9 February, part of heartunions week. This was really popular last year and we want to get as many union branch meetings taking place simultaneously as possible on Thursday 9 February, 12.30pm, bringing members and potential members into workplace activities.
This is a great opportunity for union members to hear from Frances O’Grady talking about the importance of unions in the workplace and the vital role unions reps play.

Big Workplace Meeting hosted by London’s first Night Czar and Equity member Amy Lamé. We had a great turnout with many workplaces tuning in for the live broadcast so thank you to all the workplaces that took part.

Talking union can be difficult
Kicking off a conversation with a colleague about a union is often the most difficult thing to do. There are a number of reasons why someone might be hesitant to start this conversation.
To help you tackle this we have produced an interactive mobile-friendly guide with useful tips and guidance to get you talking union.
Last year over 3,000 union reps viewed the interactive ‘Talking Union’ guide. We’ve updated the guide to contain more information on recruiting new union members, especially young members.
