The BDA Board of Directors are now recruiting for four new Directors to join their Board, with appointment at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the beginning of October 2025.

Opportunity for one further term of three years

Background

Due to the completion of the term of some of our current Board Director we are seeking interest from individuals who have strong governance knowledge and skills to undertake the duties of a BDA Board Director in the following areas:

  • A BDA member based in Scotland
  • 3 Lay Directors

The BDA Board of Directors leads the profession and, more importantly, has strategic oversight of the company. There is a Selection Committee which interviews candidates and makes recommendations to the Board on Director appointments in line with Selection Committee by-laws. Director appointments must be ratified by members at the AGM per the BDA Memorandum and Articles.

A vacancy is upcoming for a Board Director who is a full BDA Member ideally based in Scotland. We are also seeking applications from appropriately qualified individuals to full three lay roles (not associated with the profession or the Association).

All appointees will demonstrate appropriate governance skills and competencies and experience of working at a strategic level. We are keen also to strengthen the Board’s expertise in the following desirable areas:

  • Marketing and Communications
  • Digital and AI
  • Finance

Role Description

The key responsibilities of all BDA Board Director are to:

  • Act as a Director of the company and, in accordance with Company Law
  • Act in the best interests of the company and avoids any conflicts of interest
  • Attend and contribute to Board meetings and any Board discussions and decisions that are necessary outside of the meeting cycle
  • Provide strategic direction and makes policy and strategic decisions. in the best interests of the company and profession
  • Represent the Board to members and externally at meetings or events
  • Undertake and lead a specific portfolio of activity at the request of the Board
