The BDA Bwrdd Cymru, BDA South Wales Branch and BDA North West & North Wales Branch hosted an evening event on Wednesday 8 October at Village Hotel Cardiff.
It was wonderful to see so many members attend the evening—thank you for coming!
This talk explores how dietitians play a pivotal role in delivering care that truly nourishes people – not just through food, but through understanding what matters to them. Dee Lowry will share insights from her work embedding Value-Based Healthcare, highlighting how dietitians can lead system change by focusing on outcomes that reflect people’s real lives, choices and experiences.
Tanya will provide an update on the work the BDA is undertaking to promote opportunities for dietitians within the enhanced and advanced levels of practice, including an overview of the dietetic career framework which was launched in May 2025. Lisa Williams has developed a case study, available on the BDA Advanced Practice webpages, and she will be discussing her career and development into the advanced level of practice in more detail.
Orla will share how Motivational Interviewing is effective in Dietetic practice across the lifespan with a focus on prevention. She will share experiences of learning and implementing MI into conversations about change across a broad range of settings and conditions.
The session will take you on a timeline of the development of the ARFID Specialist Interest Group (SIG), charting how the position statement was created and how it became the catalyst for an explosion of BDA activities supporting our profession. We will highlight the progress and leadership shown in Wales and what our nation is doing to help ensure ARFID is “everyone’s business’.
We invited posters to be on display to share best practice.
We offered limited travel bursaries to those who are travelling more than one hour.
