Speakers
Phil Wroe (Expert by Experience): “Tips for improving care for autistic patients with eating disorders”.
Phil Wroe is an autistic consultant and a specialist teacher who was diagnosed autistic at the age of 43. By that point in her life, she had spent 30 years in and out of counselling, CBT and Psychodynamic Therapy, alongside several in-patient stays in an Eating Disorders Unit. More recently Phil has been having treatment with a specialist EMDR therapist to work through Complex PTSD.
Phil provides autism awareness training for staff working in mental health settings, Eating Disorders Units and educational settings. She has spoken about her experience of trauma and eating disorders at The Autism Show and at international webinars. Phil also has 25 years of teaching experience; working with children in both Mainstream Schools and Pupil Referral Units and with children who are in Foster Care.
Phil is Mum to 2 autistic young people and enjoys spending any spare time with her husband on their allotment, or walking their lurcher, Loki.
Rob Parton (Expert by Experience): “Tips for neurodivergent selective eaters “.
Rob Parton (29) is a remarkable young adult. Diagnosed just before his third birthday. A selective eater with profound sensory and memory issues, and limited language.
He has overcome many of his challenges to become a sought-after public speaker. Talking about his own lived experiences and giving some of his own hint and tips for dietitans, Rob is happy to take questions at the end of his short presentation.
