Freelance Specialist Group - The gut-brain connection: the psychological perspective on gut health

Dr Alexa Duff, Clinical Psychologist at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS foundation trust and in private practice. She specialises in supporting patients with gut health difficulties, particularly IBD, to improve their wellbeing.

Clinical Psychologists are trained in a number of different kinds of therapy. They work mainly mainly using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, compassion focused therapy and EMDR, but will work with a client to find the approach that works best for them. Dr Alexa Duff has an interest in research and is working on a number of different projects, including some exploring the impact of acceptance and commitment therapy, the development of eating difficulties and how illness perceptions impact on care.
