Committee

Introducing Our New Committee for 2023

We are excited to announce that we now have plans in place for activity across our North West & North Wales branch for the new year. The branch is a friendly group of Dietitians from a variety of specialist backgrounds scattered around the North West and North Wales dedicated to shouting about all things Dietetics in the region. We are very grateful to the BDA members who have stepped up to volunteer on the committee.

“I'm delighted to be back with the branch, bringing it back to life once again with our new committee. I think the branches help to connect dietitians across regions, make us feel connected with BDA office and provide local CPD opportunities. It is also a great networking opportunity. I am also the current deputy chair of the BDA England Board.

I currently work for Reacta Healthcare, a pharmaceutical company in North Wales which manufactures diagnostics for food allergy therapeutic clinical trials worldwide. I manage relationships with all our clients, attend scientific congress and support with marketing. I have a background across finance and dietetics”.

I have experience working in different dietetic specialist areas including elderly care, home enteral feeding, and gastroenterology but am currently working at the Royal Oldham Hospital as a critical care dietitian."

"I am a dietetic assistant in the oncology area, each day brings new experiences and challenges. Everybody knows someone who has experienced cancer. I wanted to be an important part of this journey. I realised I can learn lots of things from patients. I earned insightful communication skills which helped me about supporting people who have cancer. In my current role, I'm assisting with a muscle screening project for Head and Neck cancer patients under the supervision of a registered dietitian.

"Hi, My name is Abigail. I am so grateful to be a part of this exciting new start to the  BDA North West and North Wales branch. I can still remember attending meetings as a brand new graduate and learning from all the experienced dietitians in the room. I am now in my third year of working in higher education as the Programme Lead for postgraduate Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Chester following my clinical career in adult acute services in Chester. I look forward to working with the team and contributing to the development of this amazing profession that I am so proud of."

"Hello, My name is Avani, I am grateful to be a part of the committee for the BDA North West and North Wales branch as a Student Member. The branch is a great way to keep up to date with the evolving dietetic profession as well as to get involved in valuable CPD and networking events in the area. I look forward to working with the branch and to represent the voice of the students.

I am in my second year of the Nutrition and dietetics course at Wrexham University. I am really enjoying the course and I have completed two placements, both in clinical and non clinical settings. We have had many opportunities at university to practice dietetic related skills through role-plays and practical seminars.
The first year has been a great introduction to the dietetic profession and I am keen to continue building on this knowledge as I progress into the second and third year of the course."
