Volunteer Officer (Groups and Branches)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Volunteer Officer to act as a key link between the BDA and our specialist group, sub-group and branch volunteer committees. You will work closely with colleagues across the BDA to support, coordinate and develop our member-led networks, ensuring volunteers have the guidance, resources and support they need. 

You will help deliver and promote volunteer activity, manage communications, and support events and meetings both in-person and online, while maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing governance support, and ensuring volunteer activity aligns with BDA policies, governance, and legal frameworks. 

This is a hands-on role that requires excellent interpersonal skills, discretion, and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure, representing the BDA professionally at all times.

About you

You will have experience in volunteer management and engagement, with a strong understanding of supporting member-led communities, governance, policy, and legal frameworks. You are confident in coordinating and supporting volunteers, providing advice and training, and managing relationships across multiple teams and stakeholder groups. You are proactive, adaptable, and organised, with excellent communication skills and the ability to exercise sound judgement in complex situations. Experience in a membership organisation or with professional networks is desirable.

Founded in 1936, we are one of the oldest and most experienced dietetic organisations in the world.

We represent the whole of the dietetic workforce - practitioners, researchers, educators, support workers and students.
