Patient case studies - can you help?

We're looking for dietitians and patients willing to share their experiences for a series of case studies.

Patient case studies are a valuable way of explaining what a dietitian does and demonstrating the impact and value of your work on individuals and wider public health. As a publicly facing resource, case studies can help to address misconceptions and increase people's understanding of the diversity and breadth of conditions and circumstances that you support.

Over the next year, we are planning to develop a series of patient case studies. For these to be reflective of the communities you serve, we hope to talk to a diverse range of people. In addition, we'd like these case studies to cover different dietetic specialisms and nutritional concerns.

This is where we need your help. Does your specialist group or sub-group have any existing relationships with patients (directly or through a charity link or patient group), who may be receptive and willing to share their story?

Do you personally have a patient or client that would make an interesting case study, perhaps you've solved a persistent problem or you're making their life that little bit easier thanks to your dietetic practice?

If you have someone in mind but aren't sure how to approach them about this please get in touch and we can support you through the process.

We would like to share the patient's experiences and perspective alongside the dietitian they worked with. Case studies may consist of long form written content or videos and would be formatted to share in different ways by the BDA. If suitable, these patient case studies could potentially be shared with the press too (with appropriate permissions). If this isn't something you'd like then please don't be put off, we can work with you to find the best way to share your and your patient's story.

If you are interested in being involved and supporting with patient case studies, please complete the online form below and we'll be in touch soon. If you have any further questions, please contact [email protected].
