Kellie Owens – Dietetic Advanced Practitioner in UGI surgery

Kellie Owen is a Dietetic Advanced Clinical Practitioner at Salford Care Organisation, working within the Greater Manchester Oesophagogastric Surgical Unit. She qualified as a dietitian in 2000 and holds an Advanced Diploma in Dietetic Practice, an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice, and a Non‑Medical Prescribing qualification. She has previously been awarded an NIHR internship and currently holds an NIHR pre-application award to support the development of her research. Her clinical expertise includes enteral and parenteral nutrition for the management of benign and malignant upper gastrointestinal disease. Her professional and research interests focus on cancer cachexia, cancer prehabilitation, and survivorship following upper gastrointestinal cancer treatment.


Zoe Simpson – PhD Candidate and Advanced Practitioner in Ketogenics

Zoe is an Advanced Clinical Practitioner at Great Ormond Street Hospital specialising in ketogenic diet therapy for children with epilepsy and GLUT1 deficiency. With over 14 years of NHS experience, she combines dietetic expertise with advanced clinical skills, including prescribing and managing treatment side effects. She is currently undertaking a PhD developing a parent‑reported quality‑of‑life measure for children on ketogenic therapy. Zoe also mentor’s clinicians globally and serves on the British Dietetic Association’s Professional Committee.

 

Dr Sharon Huish Advanced – Practice Renal Dietitian and Renal Dietetic Service Lead

Sharon works at the Royal Devon University Trust, working closely with people living with kidney disease, with a focus on CKD-mineral bone disorders (CKD_MBD). Alongside her clinical role, she is involved in research on vitamin D metabolism in CKD and the experiences of people living with calciphylaxis. She chairs a national multi-professional research group and is passionate about bringing together different perspectives to improve care and advance dietetic practice. Her MDT research leadership has been recognised nationally through the Donna Lamping Award. Sharon is a member of the BDA Prescribers Group committee and a recipient of the BDA Outstanding Achiever Award. She enjoys sharing practical insights to support others in advanced practice.

 

Jonny Chantry – Acute Medicine Advanced Practitioner

Jonny is a Physio by background, having qualified in 2018. He then worked for 3 years in rotational posts in various departments before moving to a stroke practitioner role. This was a pioneering role as he was the first physiotherapist stroke practitioner in Exeter. After working 18 months as a stroke practitioner, Jonny moved to a trainee ACP  role within acute medicine, where he has now qualified and works. Jonny is going to demonstrate, how you can work as a AP and maintain your HCPC registration, although you are no longer doing to job of your background profession.
