  • Maria Barrett - Introduction and presentation of BDA AP survey results 

    More about Maria - Maria is an Advanced Clinical Practitioner/ Dietitian specialising in Intestinal Failure. Maria obtained her MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice in 2022 and is the Research Officer for the BDA's Advanced Practice specialist group. Maria was appointed as a CAHPR/NIHR Allied Health Professional (AHP) Research Champion in 2019 and has held the role since. The purpose of this role is to promote local and national research engagement amongst AHPs and provide them with peer support. She also holds an Honorary Research Assistant appointment with the University of Manchester. 
     
  • Tom Welbank - Developing AP Roles and services

    More about Tom - Tom chairs the British Dietetic Association's Advanced Practice specialist group and leads the Acute Enteral Nutrition Service at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in South Yorkshire. This wrap-around service operates through a single point of access, where Advanced Practitioners are required to assess, diagnose, and treat patients who present through elective and emergency pathways. The service delivers diagnostic and interventional procedures across a variety of settings.
  • Kirsty Martin-McGill, Advanced Practice Education and Training Senior Manager, North West Faculty for Advanced Practice  - Governance & networking considerations post-qualification

    More about Kirsty - Kirsty is the Education and Training Senior Manager at the North West Faculty for Advancing Practice. Prior to this, Kirsty worked in a national role as Recognition Lead at the Centre for Advancing Practice. She is a registered dietitian and has experience of working in clinical and research environments, specialising in neurosciences, and in academia as a senior lecturer and programme lead.  Kirsty completed her PhD in 2019; the innovative research led to her being awarded CN ‘Clinical Nutrition Professional of the Year’.  She has authored numerous Cochrane reviews and contributed to NICE guidance publications.
     
  • Tanya Rumney, Workforce Lead, BDA – How the BDA supports APs

    More about Tanya - Tanya Rumney has worked with the BDA and NHSE on workforce projects to support the implementation of enhanced and advanced level roles and First Contact Dietitians. Tanya is currently working as the BDA Workforce Lead alongside an NHS role as the professional lead for a large nutrition and dietetic service based in Chester.
