This session will provide a refresher for HCPC registrants on the importance and value of keeping accurate, secure and timely records of your work.
We will explore the HCPC standards that relate to record keeping and explore some of the barriers and enablers to maintaining records of care and treatment. Case studies will be presented and discussed that relate to fitness to practice cases where record keeping issues were part of the concerns raised.
By the end of the session you will understand the key reasons why keeping accurate and timely records is important, have considered the implications of poor record keeping and be signposted to helpful resources.

About the speaker
Iain Spink is Professional Liaison Consultant (England), within the Professional Liaison Service, HCPC. The Professional Liaison Service works in partnership with employers, to influence and support the development of cultures, working environments and practices that will enable our registrants to embed and achieve high professional standards.
Iain is also an HCPC registrant: a music therapist with 16 years’ experience of working in the NHS in older adult mental health inpatient settings in Kent and Medway.
He has a career and research interest in how health and care professionals can contribute to positive workplace culture and practice; his current PhD research investigates the impact of music therapy for care team staff in NHS settings for older people.
