Join us for our Annual General Meeting, followed by an engaging educational webinar exploring innovation in dietetic decision-making across clinical practice.
Speakers and sessions
The webinar will feature two expert speakers:
- Gemma Stott, Consultant Dietitian at St George’s Hospital, London, will present on the Universal Dietetic Patient Complexity Tool—an innovative approach to assessing patient complexity and supporting safe, sustainable dietetic caseloads.
More about Gemma - Gemma Stott is the Consultant Dietitian and Professional Lead at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in London and has had the opportunity to undertake secondments in AHP leadership and IT. Gemma has a keen interest in professional development across all areas of dietetics, and has spent the last 10 years co-designing the Universal Patient Dietetic Complexity Tool (UDPCT) with feedback from multiple dietitians across the UK. The UDPCT was validated in a multi-centre research trial with 12 sites across all 4 UK nations. Gemma also has international experience working in New Zealand implementing the DAFNE programme.
- Dr Mel Toon, Intestinal Failure Dietitian and Postgraduate Researcher, who will explore the factors influencing prescribing and clinical decision-making in parenteral nutrition, drawing on both clinical expertise and emerging research.
More about Mel - Melanie has extensive experience in the management of parenteral nutrition (PN) and intestinal failure, becoming a supplementary non-medical prescriber in 2018. She combines her clinical role within Leicester’s Intestinal Failure Team with research and has recently completed her PhD evaluating parenteral requirements, intakes and influences on home PN prescribing in adults with chronic intestinal failure. Locally she has led on projects to increase inpatient use of multi-chamber PN across the trust and was also involved in a feasibility study investigating home jejunostomy feeding after oesophago-gastric cancer surgery.
Together, these sessions will highlight how evidence-based tools and research-driven insights can support smarter, more effective decision-making in dietetic practice.
