- Dr Alison Culkin, Consultant Dietitian, St Mark’s Hospital, London and chair of the BDA Prescribers subgroup will be demonstrating the NHS learning Hub Preparing to prescribe toolkit. This toolkit takes you step-by-step through the requirements you need to meet before you register on a non-medical prescribing (NMP) programme in the UK.
- Sally Gilborson, Independent Prescribing Lead, Advanced Practice Project Lead, Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will be covering:
- Potential funding avenues: NHSE, ICB workforce transformation funds, internal CPD budgets, service development bids
- Tips on navigating local funding systems and who to approach (e.g. NMP Leads, Workforce Leads, Training Hubs).
- Infrastructure and support needed.
More about Sally - Sally Gilborson is the Independent Prescribing and Advanced Practice Lead at the Royal Devon University Healthcare Trust. She is Vice Chair of the Association for Prescribers and Chairs the Southwest NMP Leads Network. A mental health nurse by background, Sally went on to work in addictions before completing her NMP qualification in 2008. Her research interests focus on professional identity; she has published on the identity of prescribers and is currently undertaking a Professional Doctorate at the University of Bath, exploring the identity of physician associates.
- Natalie Yerlett, Head of Dietetics, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust will be talking about:
- Time release and workload adjustment.
- Clinical governance, CPD post-course, and embedding prescribing into practice.
- Manager’s role in supporting the trainee and service adaptation.
More about Natalie - Natalie is Head of Dietetics and the Dietetic Lead for EB and Dermatology at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, where she has worked for over 15 years. Natalie joined the EB team over 10 years ago and has a passion for helping infants children and adolescents with all types of EB and dermatological conditions. Natalie is a supplementary prescriber and has published numerous papers, articles and has written textbook chapters on the nutritional considerations of dermatology and EB. Natalie was part of the team who wrote the Debra EB CPG Neonatal guidelines, and she also sits on the CPG committee for enteral feeding in EB.
