Oncology Specialist Group Member's Education Award
We want to support our members by funding opportunities to develop your practice as an Oncology Dietitian
Award: Up to £950 (will be required to submit evidence of expenses)
Eligibility: Must have been a member of the BDA Oncology Specialist Group for at least 1 year
Number available: Two awards made each calendar year
We want to hear from you! To submit an application for the award, members must write a summary of what they would like to do if they won the award. This may include a conference, a visit to another department or centre or undertaking a course. Applications may be made to support part funding of a higher degree if there is a clear description of how the criteria of the award will be met, particularly how this will benefit oncology dietetics and how it will ultimately improve patient care. The submission must be relevant to the practice of dietetics and oncology and be carried out with the aim of increasing knowledge and improving patient care. Submissions should be presented under the following headings:
- Summary of what you will use the award for
- Location of the conference, course or visit
- Date of the proposed conference, course or visit
- Anticipated cost
- Aims and objectives of attendance or visit
- Please specify how the aims and objectives of attendance will benefit Oncology Dietetics
- Have you applied to any other organisation to fund this attendance or visit? If yes, please state where from and total amount requested.
- How will it increase your knowledge and improve patient care
- Plans for dissemination
Please allow 3 months for the application to be considered. The award will not be made to fund visits that have already taken place.
A stipulation of the award is that the member must submit a photograph from the event and write a 500-word summary for publication in the BDA Oncology Group newsletter. In addition, they will be required to give a short presentation at the annual BDA Oncology Group study day. If they cannot attend then it would be acceptable to provide a video blog for the study day and link to the BDA website discussion forum.
