Cystic Fibrosis Virtual AGM

Hosted by the Cystic Fibrosis Specialist Group

Join the group for their AGM.

Your specialist group needs you!

We are in search of energetic volunteers to join our committee to contribute new ideas and get involved with making this most successful year for the committee to date! The Cystic Fibrosis Specialist Group is welcoming all members to consider getting involved in working with the committee to plan for the year ahead and to help grow our community. We have the following roles available would love to hear from you!

  • Chair (Ideally joint chair to cover adults and paediatric)
  • Treasurer
  • Ordinary member

The role/s can seem a little daunting but we have a fantastic committee in place to help support the role and a full induction and training package to help you get started. The BDA office is always on hand to support volunteers in their development and offers support, guidance and regular CPD opportunities. The most important thing is that you are able to contribute time to attend committee meetings and be willing to help the specialist group continue to build its strong and successful community through developing CPD events, networking, education and collaboration with other groups and branches.

There are a number of benefits to getting involved with your specialist group including:

  • Develop valuable job skills – volunteering is a great way to discover something that you are really good at and also develop new skills. Many roles offer the opportunity to gain career enhancing skills, such as leadership, project management, marketing, and negotiating and finance management. We also offer formal training for some roles.
  • Make new contacts and friends – volunteering gives you the opportunity to broaden your networks and can expose you to new friends who have common interests. It is also a fantastic opportunity to meet new people who may become future colleagues or mentors.  Many committee members also find it fun!
  • Developing the profession – working as part of the committee team, you are leading and ensuring the provision of CPD, providing vital opportunities for dietitians to network and offering them the opportunity to hear updates and best practice in a wide variety of different areas. This is contributing to the development and advancement of the profession and ultimately driving demand for dietetics.
