  • Sarcopenic obesity: a physiotherapy perspective with Jade Sampford, Healthy Living Physiotherapist, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust 

The session will cover what sarcopenic obesity is and why it matters clinically. We’ll explore the role of skeletal muscle in weight management, and practical physical activity strategies to prevent or manage sarcopenic obesity.

Jade completed a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Birmingham before undertaking a MSc pre-registration Physiotherapy degree at King’s College London. Following qualification, she joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London, where she has worked in clinical practice for 11 years. She is currently a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist with a focus on obesity management. Alongside her clinical role, she is completing a Professional Doctorate in Health and Social Care at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. Her doctoral work supports her development as a practitioner–researcher within the obesity service, where she is keen to advance the role of physiotherapy in this rapidly evolving field.

  • Dietetic considerations for managing sarcopenic obesity with Zoe Griffiths, Registered dietitian, Numan

This session will explore the challenges and opportunities for dietitians to support optimal outcomes in patients with sarcopenic obesity, focusing on how to adapt weight management programmes - and identifying gaps in our knowledge and future research questions 

Qualifying as a registered dietitian over 20 years ago, Zoe has worked in the behavioral change and obesity treatment space for the majority of her career, formally as a member of the global science team at Weight Watchers International and heading up the Behavioral Medicine team at Allurion Technologies. Zoe currently leads the Behavioural Medicine and Health Coaching services at digital health company Numan; working to support patients to lead healthier lives across obesity, women's health, men's health and preventative care domains. With extensive capabilities in the R&D, implementation, governance and evaluation of consumer driven, evidence-based behaviour change programmes delivered across B2C and B2B channels, Zoe is a SCOPE certified obesity practitioner, passionate about delivering high quality, evidence based care.

  • Sophie Wilson, Senior Specialist Obesity and Bariatric Surgery Dietitian, Guy’s and St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust .

Sophie is a highly specialist Bariatric Surgery dietitian with extensive experience supporting patients through meaningful, sustainable weight-loss journeys. She completed her Bsc in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2026 has worked in the field of bariatric surgery since 2018, developing clinical expertise in the nutritional, metabolic, and behavioural needs of patients undergoing weight loss surgery. More recently, she has expanded her practice to include patients prescribed weight loss medications.
