Hosted by BDA Sports Nutrition Specialist Group
Elite athletes rely on carbohydrate-rich fuelling strategies to optimise performance and recovery. However, emerging evidence suggests this may come at a cost to oral health. This session will present findings from research conducted in collaboration with Sport Ireland, highlighting the high burden of dental disease observed in elite athletes and exploring the complex relationship between sports nutrition and oral health. Practical implications for clinicians working with athletic populations will also be discussed.
