Órla Cahill
BSc, MSc
I am a HCPC and CORU registered Specialist Allergy Dietitian with 10 years’ experience working in the NHS. I currently work as a Senior Specialist Allergy Dietitian at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and Homerton University Hospital, supporting adults with food allergy and complex dietary needs.
I hold an MSc in Nutrition & Dietetics from King’s College London and a First Class BSc in Nutritional Sciences from University College Cork. I am a member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA), the BDA Food Allergy and Gastroenterology Specialist Groups, and the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI).
I have specialised in food allergy for over five years, with experience in the assessment and dietary management of complex IgE-mediated food allergy and non-IgE-mediated food allergy. I also have experience supporting patients with eosinophilic oesophagitis (EoE), including dietary elimination approaches, nutritional assessment and food reintroduction planning. I support patients to manage dietary restrictions safely while maintaining nutritional adequacy and helping them achieve a varied, balanced and enjoyable diet.
Alongside allergy, I have a specialist interest in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), food intolerances and functional gastrointestinal disorders. I have undertaken additional training in the low FODMAP diet at King’s College London and support patients with IBS using evidence-based dietary approaches. I help patients understand the relationship between diet and symptoms while avoiding unnecessary dietary restriction.
My approach is evidence-based and personalised, recognising the significant impact that food allergy, dietary restriction and gastrointestinal symptoms can have on daily life. I work collaboratively with patients to develop practical, sustainable dietary strategies tailored to their individual needs.
I provide virtual consultations for adults throughout the UK and Ireland.
