UCU Joint Membership

BDA and University and College Union (UCU) have established a joint membership agreement to support professionals working across dietetics, higher education and research. 

Through this partnership, individuals who are members of both organisations can benefit from reduced membership fees, helping to strengthen professional representation across healthcare and academia.

Eligible members receive:

  • 25% discount on the BDA standard membership fee
  • 25% discount on the UCU national fee

Who is eligible?

This joint membership offer is available to individuals who:

  • Are eligible for membership with the British Dietetic Association
  • Are active members of UCU
  • Work within higher education, research, or academic roles connected to dietetics

Applicants must hold active memberships with both organisations to qualify for the discounted rate. BDA reserves the right to request evidence of membership with UCU before approving the discounted membership.

How to apply

To apply for BDA membership under the BDA–UCU joint membership agreement, please follow the steps below:

  1. Complete the BDA online membership application form.
  2. Once your application has been submitted, email [email protected] to confirm that you are applying as part of the UCU partnership agreement. Include your UCU membership number in the email so the membership team can verify your eligibility.
  3. The BDA membership team will verify your membership with the UCU, and the 25% discount will be applied to your BDA membership subscription. A membership invoice will be emailed to you detailing the discount and payment informaiton.
