This course aims to give you an essential overview of nutrition in mental health, learning disabilities and eating disorders to enable you to support your service users' physical health needs.
Who is this course for?
- Healthcare workers in mental health, learning disabilities and eating disorders, for example the dietetic support workforce, nurses, occupational therapists, healthcare support workers, nursing associates and associate practitioners.
- Anyone who is looking for an introduction to the areas of mental health, learning disabilities and eating disorders.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Explain the impact of nutritional issues concerned with those affected by mental health disorders, learning disabilities and eating disorders.
- Recognise nutritional red flags and know when to refer on and signpost.
- Understand first-line advice and your role in supporting service users with their nutritional needs.
- Promote the importance of nutrition and physical health within mental health, learning disabilities and eating disorder services, as part of an integrated approach to recovery.
How long will it take to complete the course?
Learners will work at their own speed, but on average, this course will take approximately two and a half hours to complete. This may take longer, depending on how much reference is made to the additional resources.
