Additional information:
The scheme supports research through two funding arms:
Translational and Clinical Research: Research focused on diagnosis, prevention, early intervention and improvements in treatment for conditions affecting people in Wales.
Health and Social Care Services and Public Health Research: Research examining health and social care delivery, service improvement, population health, prevention, health behaviours and health inequalities.
Applications from early-career researchers and first-time lead investigators are welcomed.
A particular research priority for Call 7 is improving joined-up care and support for care-experienced children and young people aged 11–25 with unmet emotional and behavioural needs.
Applicants must demonstrate the importance of their proposed research, its potential impact and how public research partners will be involved.
Applications follow a two-stage process, with successful Stage 1 applicants invited to submit a full application.
Stage 2 applications are expected to open on 17 February 2027 and close on 14 April 2027.
How to apply:
Submit a Stage 1 application through the new Wales Research Awards Management System by 1pm on 18 November 2026.
