The window for dietitians to renew their registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is now open (1 April 2026). The window is open for three months and will close on 30 June 2026.
This process takes place every two years and requires dietitians to update their renewal information, confirm that they continue to meet the HCPC’s standards, submit equality monitoring information and pay the renewal fee online.
It is the professional responsibility of all dietitians to complete their renewal on time, if they would like to continue to be on the HCPC Register.
Members are urged to renew as soon as possible, to ensure they can continue to practise. Failure to renew registration will mean removal from the register and that you can no longer practise as a dietitian.
For 2.5% of dietitians, the HCPC will also require submission of a full CPD portfolio, accompanied by a personal statement demonstrating how the HCPC standards of continuing professional development have been met.
Only dietitians who have been registered for two years or more are eligible for selection. This means recent graduates and those who have recently returned to the register after a career break will not be selected.
If you are selected for audit, the HCPC will notify you by email at the start of the renewal window and an alert will also appear in your online account.
Your CPD profile must be completed and submitted by the renewal deadline (30 June). If needed there are options to request a deferral. Dietitians selected for audit must still complete their registration renewal as usual.
