Rowan Smith
MSc
I am a sports nutritionist and a graduate registered SENr Practitioner. I have worked with a range of athletes, from youth to adults, competing at levels ranging from amateur to national. As a nutritionist, my primary focus is on creating an environment where athletes and coaches can enhance their understanding of nutrition while fostering a positive and supportive experience.
Since April 2023, I have been working with the professional basketball organisation, the Leicester Riders. I have also worked in professional football, car racing, physique-based sports, as well as supporting students enrolled on the DiSE programme. Outside of my applied practitioner role, I work as a Higher Education Lecturer at Loughborough College, where I teach exercise physiology as part of the Sport Science degree courses.
To further advance my expertise as a researcher, academic, and practitioner, I am pursuing a part-time PhD. My research focuses on ‘exercise-induced gastrointestinal damage in team-sport athletes, with a key emphasis on observing the differences in responses between biological sexes’.
I am deeply passionate about my work as a practitioner and lecturer and am committed to continual professional development. My goal is to consistently upskill and refine my knowledge and abilities to deliver the highest quality service.
