Autism Specialist Sub-Group - Understanding and Supporting PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance*), PDA Eating Difficulties and Disorders

Hosted by Autism Sub-Group

PDA is a poorly understood profile of autism. PDA impacts daily functioning, often including eating and drinking. Typical autism and eating disorder support approaches can be unhelpful and even harmful to PDAers (people with PDA). During this session, Asher will use her lived experience of PDA and eating disorder recovery to help us understand PDA. She will share insights into living with PDA, its impact on eating and development into eating disorders. Asher will outline why typical support approaches can be unhelpful or harmful to people with PDA and provide recommendations for supporting eating difficulties in PDA.
