  • Nikki Pound, Trade Union Congress (TUC’s) Policy Lead for Women  

Will give an update on the work and campaigns that Trade Union are doing around Menopause in the workplace and employment rights bill. 

Nikki Joined the TUC in 2019 working in the economics team before becoming women's officer. Nikki leads the TUC's policy and campaign work on women's rights, representation and equality in the workplace. She works on policy issues such as women's health and safety in the workplace, sexual harassment and gender-based violence, representation of women in unions, occupational segregation, women in the labour market, equal pay, sex discrimination and maternity rights. 

  • Deborah Garlick,  Founder and CEO of Henpicked 

Will cover what good practice around Menopause looks like  

Deborah Garlick is the Founder and CEO of Henpicked: Menopause in the Workplace and Menopause Friendly, and a leading expert on menopause at work in the UK and globally. For over 10 years, she has worked with thousands of employers across the UK, US and Australia, helping them take practical, evidence-based action on menopause and menstrual health. Deborah is the driving force behind the Menopause Friendly Accreditation, the only independently assessed standard of its kind, and is a trusted voice with employers, policymakers and leaders navigating workplace inclusion, wellbeing and long-term change. 

  • Yasmine Talebian, Regional Officer, National Education Union (NEU)

Will be talking about their experience of campaigning on Menopause policy as a Trade union activist. 

Yasmine is a dedicated education advocate with almost 20 years of experience as a teacher, Head of Department, and SEND Specialist. Now serving as a Regional Officer for the NEU, she combines her extensive classroom expertise with a commitment to workers' rights and systemic change.    

Throughout her leadership career, including her time as part of a team of Assistant District and Branch Secretaries for West Sussex NEU, Yasmine has been part of a driving force behind vital workplace protections. She has successfully coordinated regional campaigns for menopause policies, maternity returner rights, and accurate directed time calculations.

About the webinar series 

The webinar is open to all members who simply want to find out what the BDA Trade Union is doing for them behind the scenes and what it can do to support during times of need. It will encourage members to get involved and demonstrate how being a rep develops skills, supports career growth and improves workplaces. The more members that get involved, the stronger the BDA will be as a professional association.
