2026 Awards season - Celebrating members of the dietetic workforce

Throughout the year there are a several award ceremonies that seek to acknowledge the work of individuals in healthcare. We are delighted that members of the dietetic workforce are consistently nominated and awarded for their exceptional contributions.

Dr Ione Ashurst - CAHPO Gold Award for Excellence

Dr Ione Ashurst was honoured with a CAHPO Gold Award for Excellence for her leadership of the therapies and rehabilitation department at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.

In addition to her demonstrating outstanding leadership, Ione has been a longstanding advocate for the AHP workforce. As Chair of the South West London AHP Council and the South West AHP Faculty, she represents the AHP workforce on the South West London Integrated Care Board. She is also one of two AHP representatives in the London Clinical Senate.

Reflecting on her award, Ione said "It means a great deal to be recognised by my own team - their nomination makes this award truly special. As a dietitian, I'm especially proud to represent a profession that is increasingly stepping into AHP leadership, helping to broaden and strengthen the voice of our workforce."

 

Kyle Kennedy - UK Advancing Healthcare Awards 2026 - Rising Star Award

Kyle Kennedy was awarded the Rising Star Award at the UK Advancing Healthcare Awards for his work in Public Health. Kyle, who is currently Secretary of the PDA Public Health Specialist Group, has recently supported the Office of Health Improvement and Disparities in the delivery of a new UK AHP Public Health Strategy, along with other projects.

Reflecting on his award, Kyle commented "Being one of seven recipients of the Rising Star Award at the UK Advancing Healthcare Awards is a real honour. It captures the progress I've made so far in my career as a dietitian and emerging public health leader.

"More widely, this recognition highlights the growing impact of the dietetic profession in improving health outcomes and shaping preventative care. I hope it encourages others, especially those early in their careers, to feel confident in contributing to meaningful change."
