On 14 October, the dietetic workforce, along with 13 other Allied Health Professions (AHPs), are invited to celebrate AHPs Day.
AHPs Day provides the opportunity for dietitians and dietetic support workers in England to highlight their contributions amongst the wider AHP workforce and to healthcare delivery.
The AHP workforce plays a vital part in system-wide care, assessing, treating and diagnosing patients across health and social care and beyond. The collective strength and impact of AHPs are central to the future of the NHS and the delivery of high-quality care across settings.
As the third-largest clinical workforce in health and care, AHPs are crucial in supporting the recently published 10 Year Health Plan. The theme for this year's AHPs Day reflects the priorities outlined in this plan: hospital to primary care and community services, analogue to digital and treatment to prevention.
To mark AHPs Day, members are encouraged to consider and share how they are currently, or could be, involved in the following:
Members can also tune in at 9.30am for a live address by Professor Suzanne Rastrick OBE, the CAHPO for England, where the 2025 CAHPO Award winners will be announced. Three members, Dr Claudine Matthews, Emma Smith and Gemma Stott, have been nominated for an award this year - you can read the full nomination lists for each category on the NHS England website.
