Applying for SENR registration if you are an INDI member

Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENR) offers a registration route for practitioners in the Republic of Ireland who are members of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute (INDI), enabling recognition on the UK register without full BDA membership.

This pathway supports cross-border professional recognition while maintaining high standards of practice and public assurance.

Why apply to be an SENR registrant?

SENR registration allows you to:

  • Be listed on the Sports and Exercise Nutrition Register as a recognised sport and exercise nutrition dietitian, without becoming a full BDA member
  • Demonstrate professional credibility and adherence to recognised standards
  • Increase visibility to employers, organisations and the public seeking qualified dietitians
  • Align your practice with UK professional benchmarks while remaining a member of INDI

This option is designed specifically for dietitians who already belong to the equivalent professional body in Ireland and wish to be recognised on the UK register.

What does SENR membership include?

  • Profile on the SENR public register
  • Opportunity to become a member of the sports nutrition specialist group
  • SENR-specific communications such as the quarterly newsletter
  • Access to SENR professional guidance relevant to sport and exercise nutrition practice
  • Use of the SENR logo

What does this membership not include?

SENR membership for INDI members does not include Full BDA membership benefits.

This means SENR-only members cannot access:

  • BDA Professional Indemnity Insurance
  • BDA Trade Union services
  • Wider BDA member benefits outside of SENR

Your professional indemnity insurance and professional body membership remain with INDI.

You may be eligible to apply if you:

  • Are based in Ireland
  • Hold current membership with INDI
