Jane McClements
I am an accredited Sports Dietitian and founder of The Performance Plate, a specialist service dedicated to enhancing athletic performance through evidence-based sports nutrition advice. My career includes senior roles such as Head of Performance Nutrition at Leinster Rugby and leading the Brentford Premier League Academy, alongside extensive work with adult and youth international and Commonwealth athletes, and collaborations with the UK’s top schools and sporting organisations. This background equips me with unparalleled expertise in elite performance nutrition.
Drawing on my extensive experience, I provide targeted, individual, and squad-wide nutrition support, group education, and tailored performance strategies for athletes and teams across all levels, including those achieving title successes. I also offer practical, evidence-based guidance on recovery, nutritional education, and safe supplementation to optimise both performance and health.
In addition, I am a Diabetes Specialist Dietitian with over five years’ experience working within a specialist NHS Diabetes unit, supporting clients with Type 1 and Complex Type 2 diabetes to optimise blood glucose control and enable safe participation in sport, using a combination of pump therapy and multiple daily injections. I have also worked with large organisations to conduct comprehensive audits, supporting the effective rollout of nutrition principles to aid organisational growth and development. Furthermore, I have delivered modules and lectures at Birmingham City University, the University of Bedfordshire (Luton), and St Mary’s University, Twickenham.
At The Performance Plate, I am committed to making world-class sports nutrition accessible to everyone—from professional clubs and schools to individuals just starting their athletic journey. My approach is personable, practical, and grounded in the latest scientific research, ensuring athletes receive tailored strategies that fit seamlessly into their routines and help them achieve their goals.
