HIV Care Specialist Group Study day and Anniversary Celebration

Join the HIV Care Specialist Group for their upcoming study day the committee invite you to join them for a face-to-face event in London, followed by an Afternoon Tea Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the HIV Care Specialist Group.

The guest speaker is Shola Oladipo who will provide a teaching session on Cultural Humility. Shola is a registered Dietitian and BDA member with over 25 years of experience working across the National Health Service & in the nutrition industry. She is also a doctoral researcher at the university of Coventry studying health and faith interactions in the Black African – Caribbean church community.

Shola is the pioneer for Food for Purpose. Food for Purpose is a new exciting initiative about eating, living & functioning purposefully. Their aim is to educate and support BAME communities, especially faith groups; by translating key health messages around 'prevention and management'; into culturally relevant, practical and understandable education modules.

The HIV Care Specialist Group will be launching their updated competencies with an interactive workshop, followed by an update on the recent BHIVA conference from their co-chairs.

In addition there will be talks on Weight Management, exploring the impact of ART choices on weight and metabolic health. This talk is sponsored by Gilead Sciences, Ltd and will be presented by Dr. Graeme Moyle & Dr Daniella Chilton

Dr Moyle is currently the Director of HIV Research Strategy at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital; and Dr Chilton is a Consultant in HIV medicine and genitourinary medicine at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

In the afternoon, they will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the BDA HIV Care Group, looking at the history of ‘DHIVA’ and its achievements, and the impact that dietitian’s can have on the lives of people living with HIV with opportunity for networking too
