Committee

London Branch Committee:

Co- Chair

Dr Sharon Noonan-Gunning

I am a dietitian with a PhD in Food Policy and a postgraduate diploma in epidemiology. I am co-chair of the London Branch of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) and Research Officer for the BDA Public Health Specialist Group.

My experience is mostly in the UK and in London, with its great diversity of people, communities and cultures. My international experience lies in the Caribbean, with voluntary work with the Antiguan and Barbudan Diabetes Association.

My current research focuses on a community based, public health approach to palliative and end-of-life care, the right to food and health, through participatory deliberative approaches, and the future role of public health nutrition and community dietetics in addressing health inequalities.

Co-Chair

Emily Latoy

Hello, I’m Emily - I am currently working as a PCN Senior Specialist Dietitian at Guy’s and St Thomas’. I hold a Master’s in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and have also had the opportunity to work across a number of London trusts.

My main goals for the branch include creating more networking opportunities for dietitians, dietetic support workers, and students across London. I have a particular interest in tackling health inequalities and advancing community dietetics, and I’m keen to help foster interesting conversations and CPD across our wonderfully diverse profession. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Events Officer

Agnes Wcislo

Hi, I’m Agnes! I’m a second-year BSc Dietetics and Nutrition student at London Met, and I also work as an Events Officer at the London branch, creating fun and educational events that bring people together.

I’m passionate about food and community—helping people discover healthy, affordable meals that actually taste amazing. When I’m not studying or working on food projects, you’ll find me at the gym, hitting the tennis court, or spiking a volleyball. Always on the move and always curious!

Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Officer

Humaira Mayet

Hi! I'm a band 5 rotational dietitian and health justice activist. As someone with multiple disabilities, I've always deeply understood the power of food and nutrition on health and wellbeing. During my undergraduate studies at the University of Nottingham, I got involved in trade union organising with the local University College Union branch, and I decided to work in the charity and campaigning sector, leading on EDI and liberation work. The healthcare itch never left me, so I decided to change careers and bring my knowledge of EDI to the dietetic profession. I'm particularly interested in health justice and I'm proud that my MSc research, which investigated the experiences and insights of Muslim South Asians living with cardiometabolic disease, was presented at the BDA's research symposium in 2024. I'm really looking forward to working with branch members to build a profession that carers to the needs of everyone we serve!

Secretary

Salma Abdulrahman

I’m a registered dietitian dedicated to helping people live healthier, longer lives . My passion for dietetics grew from a personal loss - my mother passed a way from a stroke related to obesity. This experience inspired me to Guide others in reducing the risk of complications through practical , evidence- based nutrition. My mission is to support individuals in building sustainable habits that not only improve their health today but also prevent life - threatening conditions in the future

Web Editor

Chloe Wakefield

Hi! I’m a second-year MSc Dietetics student at University College London. I’ve always been interested in food and health, but during my time working at a snack-bar start-up I realised how challenging the online world of nutrition can be to navigate. That experience made me want to contribute to reducing misinformation and to support the public in making sense of nutrition.

I went on to work as a Therapy Assistant at the Royal Free, where I was fortunate to work closely with dietitians. Seeing their impact on patients was incredibly inspiring and confirmed for me that dietetics was the right path. I haven’t looked back since!

I love clinical dietetics, especially ICU and Nutrition Team roles. I joined the London Branch Committee to develop new skills in non-clinical areas such as working on projects and promoting the profession, and I am very excited to get involved!
