4. Sensory differences and impact on eating - May 2025
Laura shared her professional and lived experiences of autistic sensory differences to help expand our understanding of this complex area. Topics of interoception and misophonia will be included. Laura will also explore how autistic sensory experiences can impact eating and relationships with food. Laura will provide us with practical suggestions of how we can offer neuro-affirming support to autistic people with sensory-based eating differences.
About Laura - Laura Hellfeld is an independent nurse educator, speaker and writer. Through her company Neurodivergent Nurse Consulting, Laura offers support to individuals, families and professionals to enable a greater understanding and acceptance of Neurodivergent individuals. Laura is a late identified Autistic, PDA and ADHD-er and also parent to Neurodivergent children

9. Understanding and Supporting PDA
Asher Jenner, used her lived experience of PDA and eating disorder to share understanding of PDA and its impact on eating and developement of eating disorder. Asher outlined why typical support approaches can be unhelpful or harmful to people with PDA and provided recommendations when supporting clients.
