Consultancy opportunity: SENR Investigation and Development Project

The British Dietetic Association (BDA) is seeking an experienced consultant or consultancy to help us explore the future direction and potential of the Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENR).

SENR is an established voluntary professional register with around 630 registrants across Graduate, Practitioner and Academic Associate categories. We now want to take a step back and properly assess what the future could look like for SENR and what would be required to create a sustainable model for the years ahead.

The commission will explore:

  • the potential for growth in the UK and internationally
  • realistic income and sustainability opportunities
  • opportunities for services beyond registration
  • the future operating and governance model
  • partnerships and alternative delivery models
  • the resources, systems and investment that different options would require
  • the professional, governance, legal and organisational risks associated with the different approaches

The work will be undertaken in two stages. Stage One will assess the opportunity and provide the BDA Board with evidence, options and recommendations. The Board will then make a formal go/no-go decision before any Stage Two work begins.

If the project proceeds to Stage Two, the successful consultant or consultancy will develop the preferred option in more detail, including the financial model, governance arrangements and implementation plan.

We are looking for someone who can combine strategic thinking with commercial and analytical skills and who is comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. Experience of professional registers, professional bodies, standards, accreditation, business development or comparable services would be particularly relevant. Experience in sport, nutrition or dietetics would be advantageous but is not essential.
